This course discusses the fundamentals of instructional design, namely the concepts and procedures for defining the context, articulating beliefs, contextualizing content, formulating goals and objectives, assessing needs, adapting/developing materials, choosing educational/instructional media, designing an assessment plan, and organizing the course/instruction. Some instructional design models are introduced, and the new curriculum is also considered in the instructional design process to help ensure that the resulting designs are current, practical, and effective. Upon the completion of the course, the students are expected to (a) have a solid understanding of instructional design and media, and (b) be able to design or develop a language instruction or course for students.
