Language Teaching and Learning Evaluation

This course discusses some essential principles and tools for language assessment and evaluation. The topics include test types, approaches to language testing, principles of language assessment (validity, reliability, practicality), standardized testing, assessing language skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing), alternatives in assessment, describing test results, interpreting test scores, and washback. Upon the completion of the course, the students are expected to (a) have a solid foundation of language assessment and evaluation, and (b) be able to analyze and design language assessment.
